The Clarity and Purpose Series – Part 4 – Goals, Goals, Goals!

Let’s Break that Glass Ceiling!

I don’t know about you but whenever I see goals, goals, goals I think of two things…that part of Holiday Inn where he says, SNOW! SNOW! SNOOOOWWW! and also that Lady Gaga song Boys, Boys, Boys! (Are those songs now stuck in your head? insert evil laugh!)

Today is going to be all about your goals. How to record them, how to break them down, and how to organize them both on paper and digitally!

I’m including my Goal Crusher 2.0 workbook! Enjoy!

Also I’m going to show you how to set these up digitally in Asana!

Enjoy!

The Clarity and Purpose Series – Part 3 – Conquer the Calendar

Whip it! Whip it Good! Whip That Calendar Into Shape!

Can you tell I like music? LOL

Your calendar is either going to be your best friend or the bane of your existence. The goal of the day is to bring you out of the sewers and make that calendar your friend and ally. (get it, bane of your existence…haha if you didn’t go watch some of the newer Dark Knight Batman series….if for no other reason than to drool over Christian Bale’s butt ;) )

There’s a million ways to make a planner. So many planners out there that are wonderful! Here are a few of my favorites. If you see a * next to the name it means I am an affiliate and that means that if you make a purchase I will get a small reward for your purchase. It doesn’t cost you anymore just helps to keep programs like this going and put food on my families table. :)

Day Designer (Black Stripe is my absolute fav)*

The Brilliant Weekly Scheduler

The Daily Action Planner (90 day) Also comes in a 30 day option

Yours Truly also created a calendar and planner for this year. I call it back to basics as it will help you see everything you need to do and gain clarity on your daily schedule and tasks. Here is the link to my calendar Back to Basics.

You can also do this electronically! Here are a few programs that are great for creating a planner in.

Asana

Trello (stay tuned to the next post in the series where this is covered)

ToDoist

Alright below is the daily blocker sheet I’ll mention in the video to help you plan it all out initially. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!

The Clarity and Purpose Series – Part 2 – Brain Dump

Oh, Brain Dumps! How I love thee, let me count the ways!

Brain dumps are the most magical things in the world! They allow you to open up valuable creative and strategic real estate in your brain!

Today we are going to be doing just that. The trick is to write until your brain has nothing left in it…regardless of what comes out! Once you do that you will begin breaking it out into specific categories. Some examples could be, Books to Read, To Do’s, Appointments, Calls to make, Things to Buy, Cleaning, Business Tasks, as well as all of the projects you listed yesterday!

I find that sometimes I begin the brain dump, go as much as I think I can put the paper away and then bust it out a few hours later and even more comes out! Seems totally crazy pants but it does happen and it works magnificently!

Have a great day and enjoy the dumping process! <3

The Clarity and Purpose Series – Part 1 – Why

Tell Me Why… (enter the Beatles)

I have to tell you this is one of my FAV topics!

When you list what you are doing and then decide what’s most important to you it gives you an exceptional amount of clarity.

And as they say, clarity is power!

You can do this two different ways. You can list the activities you will be doing over the next 90 days (quarter) OR you can do a full year. It’s completely up to you. One book I would highly encourage you to read is the 12 Week Year by Brian Moran. This book completely changed the way I live and plan! (P.S. if you buy the kindle version you can generally add on the narration for just a few dollars more…this is how I get my audiobooks :) Hope this little trick helps you, and saves you money!)

So below are the videos and links to the worksheets, Enjoy!

A new approach to mindset work…

I think we have a dangerous thing happening within the online sphere around mindset…well several dangerous things if I am to be honest. This concept that the universe is always working in your favor and everything happens for a reason and its always for your best purpose, etc. etc. We have to STAHHHHP telling people to be positive all the time. I’ve met some wonderful people in my life and been around some of the most positive and cheerful folks in the world but you know what…they weren’t ALWAYS like that. They had down moments…they felt their emotions and had ways to move through them…they understood themselves enough to know what their life rafts were (keep reading)…

Stop making it seem like if they aren’t on the enlightened spiritual level of being positive all the time that folks are failures. This dangerous, I repeat, **THIS IS DANGEROUS!**

Please stop telling people that everything is working for them all the time. Because when people around them are dying (literally) or they are facing bankruptcy or any other number of tragic life shit happens that’s not what they need to hear and frankly it can be dangerous. If someone is in a bad mental state and someone they know has just died and you say it’s for their greater good it could genuinely drive them to believe that maybe them dying would be better for everyone around them.

We have to stop pretending that life is good all the time. Seriously, sometimes it just fucking sucks! And that’s perfectly okay. Sometimes our burdens in life will weigh us all down. It’s okay to get lost in those moments for a bit. It’s okay to sit down and say “damn this is hard.” It’s OKAY to grieve and be sad or even be mad when it feels like everything is falling apart!

What is important is not so much getting out of those emotions…not moving through it as quickly as possible but stopping for a few minutes, feeling what we are feeling, and searching for the light. Not the positivity but the light at the end of this tunnel of despair, it’s there, I promise. Light can be anything from the smile on our childs face, a look from our lover, a friend who is there to listen when we need it. Hell it could be a salad after a week or two of eating nothing but cookies and junk food. It could be popping your favorite movie into the DVD player you haven’t used since Netflix took off and just getting lost for a short time. The light is simply a life raft that can pull us back into the land of the living when all else feels lost.

Hear me, repeat what I’m about to say to yourself over and over until it sinks in….NOT EVERYTHING IS FOR YOUR GREATER GOOD…

SOMETIMES IT ALL JUST SUCKS!

THINGS DO GET BETTER

But that can take time. Find your daily life raft and continue to feel, move through your emotions as they come, it’s going to be okay.
